A Small Patch of Japan
by Aidan
Did you know that right her in Fresno, practically in your backyard, there's a small patch of Japan? Well if you didn't, just go to Woodward Park and there it is! The name of this beautiful patch of Japan is called Shinzen Gardens. By the way, my name is Aidan, and this article is all about our class trip to the Shinzen Garden. There were so many interesting creatures and plants that day, such as maple trees, koi, rabbits, and much more.
We arrived about 10:00 and one of the first things we learned from our guide was all about a Japanese tree that grows peaches. The Japanese people take the fruit and turn it into a candy that they can suck on. When all of a sudden, a very quick rabbit came running through the garden as fast as Speedy Gonzales on Looney Tunes. Then we say an incredible little teahouse with a baby peacock relaxing on the roof.
My favorite part was towards the end of our tour, because a male peacock was showing off his feathers to a female peacock. But the female wasn't interested, she just walked away. Our group all moved to the other side of the path to get a better picture, but I was the only one who stayed on that side. We watched as the peacock began to put his feathers down, until he saw me. Suddenly his feathers went back up and he was walking towards me. Oh no! Everybody realized he thought I was a girl!!! Good thing we had to leave to go eat lunch.

Shinzen Gardens Adventure
by Steven
Where can you find a fabulous Japanese garden in Fresno? It's easy, just go to Woodward Park. It is called the Shinzen Japanese Friendship Garden. We saw so many amazing things like a real jumping koi. Then we say some majestic peacocks and a marvelous little tea house, that definitely made me thirsty. Finally we saw the most fabulous bridge that was called the Moon Bridge. After our tour, we went to a picnic area and ate lunch. Soon, Room 7, 8, and 10 were back on the bus. In conclusion, it is obvious to me that Shinzen Garden is a very special place!
