Georgia O'Keeffe
Georgia O'Keeffe is best known for her large and extreme close-ups of flowers, which dared the viewer to notice minute details which would have gone unnoticed before, She is thought to be one of the greatest and most successful female artists of the 20th century. Please enjoy our slideshow that shows some of the flowers from Notre Jardin. As you can see, Ms. O'Keeffe, as well as the anemones from our garden, were our INSPIRATION for this project!

Hello Folks! My name is Kali. I am going to tell you all about Georgia O'Keeffe. Did you know that Georgia loved to paint giant flowers, seashells, landscapes, and bones? Well I did, because we are reading all about her. Georgia was born on November 15, 1887. She lived in a farmhouse in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. She had one older brother, one younger brother, and four younger sisters. Her parents wanted her to be an art teacher, but women were considered freakish if they wanted to be an artist. So she went to a school called the Art Institute of Chicago. So clearly she was determined to follow her dream. She continued to pursue her dream and went on to become America's favorite female artist. I am so grateful for her. Although Georgia died at age 98, her bold spirit in her art still spreads across the world, and is an inspiration to all of us!
